So Why Can’t You Finish Something?
Now the secondary problem with all the above, is that while starting these projects is relatively easy, finishing ONE is your true goal.
So why can’t you finish something?
* Digital Distraction
Most people when they first turn their computers on will check their emails, sneak a look at facebook, check thier twitter account. All of these easy social activities are heavily marketed too and their are people with more money and resources than you whose sould purpose is to distract you with something you don’t actually need right now!
SOLUTION: First thing you should do is turn up to your page, canvas, prototype, project, workshop and new (blank) blog post and create something with a preset and minimum time limit or quota (300 words, etc). Only when you have completed DOING something do you reward yourself with the fun, easy and more entertaining tasks like reading your emails or playing a facebook game.
* Desperation
If desperation is your motivation to make some money online, you are going to have a lot of problems heaped on top of the problems you already have… Desperation is very hard to disguise, it comes through in your messages and offers and when detected it’s a major turn-off to potential buyers. Desperation also causes haste and usually has you chasing after tactics rather than strategies, you become easily perswauded and attracted to short cuts, quick fixes, black hat techniques, spam tactics, false messages, lies and deceit. Not a great foundation to build a six figure profitable business on.
* Tiredness
This is not just about getting sleep it’s about choosing the right moment, the most productive time of day for you to be doing something, creating real assets to ensure you are getting a good return on your invested time.
* Respect
Carrying on from Tiredness and scheduling a productive hour or two every day to actively do stuff towards making some money with a website, you then need to make sure that the people around you respect your schedule and give you the space, support and encouragement to CREATE. The biggest value attached to digital equity is that once you have created an article, a video or digital product, that work is done an it will continue to work for you and earn you money on auto-pilot with next to zero overheads.
* Clarity
You not sure what you should be doing and at which point you should be doing what.
Your trying to create an email list when you don’t even have a product to sell. You need make a more realistic long term plan of actions and treat this like a serious business.
* Confidence
You don’t have confidence or speed writing articles.
There is only one solution to this, set up a blog and write 200 word blog posts as often as you can. Then put a 5o word intro (tell em what your about to tell them) at the start of the blog post; and a 50 word conclusion (tell em what you just told em) at the end of the blog post. Do this as often as you can, writers write and when you start writing a lot you will start to read from a writers perspective and you will/can learn from everything you read.
* Preciousness
This one can be a huge curse. It’s the thing that stops you from getting a reasonable product, article or ebook out in favor of a perfect one. While quality is important, a top quality article, website, report or ebook is useless if it never gets released.
* Commitment
A lack of commitment can mean you simple haven’t made a promise to yourself that your going to get something finished by a certain date. It very easy to be productive when your working a day job and constantly being watched by others. But put yourself in the privacy of your own home, alone and its very easy to goof off and waste time.
* Achievable Goals
If your not getting things finished you need to set lower goals. Instead of working on your $30 ‘how to’ ebook, finish it today and put the offer up as a $7 dollar report. As you add more value over time, you can raise the price. If you can’t finish one 300 word article every day, publish one 100 word tip every week and build up from their.
* Vision and Focus
Taking time to develop a long term plan is one of the most beneficial things you can do in a tested and proven market, it helps you keep focused on what you need to do and keeps you from being distracted by what others are telling you to do. Just don’t get to ahead of yourself, the long term plan should be an outline; the details should be worked out for the step you are currently at; and the promises you make to your readers should only be for finished products and content, not for works in progress or projects you haven’t even started yet!
