Once you have your list of ~1000 key phrases associated with a broad market use the following checklist to narrow down your top 100.

Start by looking for a keyword/key-phrase to build your site THEME around
I am already staring at a spread sheet of 1000+ key-phrases related to my Broad Niche now.

1. Pick a small niche sized market.
   One that has between 10,000 and 15,000 competing websites (results on a Search Engine Results Page).
   • The bigger targets are possible to dominate over longer periods of time, whereas faster results are important for your confidence and commitment.

2. Pick a key-phrase that people are searching for.
   One that has a steady stream of organic (search engine) traffic?
   • Keep in mind this is just the main targeted key-phrase, you will also want to target a wide net of phrases (CATEGORIES and ARTICLE titles) each bringing in its own traffic.
   • With niches around this size estimate traffic:
     • over 1000 per day are Diamonds
     • over 500 per day are Gold
     • over 100 per day are Silver
     • over 10 per day are Bronze

3. Is there any money in the niche?
   • You can do this manually by:
     • Looking at the number of Google Ads that appear with the keyphrase as the search query.
     • Using the Free Adwords - Keyword Tool
     • Running a mock Adwords campaign
   • If you used my $8 dollar service, the ‘Adwords Cost’ column shows the highest bid for that keyword by advertisers…
     • Anything over $1 is great, over $5 is Awesome and once I have stumbled across a niche paying ~$30 and over 20 categories for the site were paying ~$20 so I built a site for it designed to just to make money off the Adsense (placing Google Ads on my site).

4. What are the readers looking for?
   • Once you have narrowed your list down to 100 using the above 3 - Low Competition, Traffic and Money - its time to take each keyword or phrase and copy it across to the Google Search Engine. What products, formats and assets are attached to the niche?
     • Create a new column and just summarize this in one or two words.
     • Amongst my shortlist for ‘weight loss’ I found Diets, Diets and Information, Workout DVDs, Ebooks, Ebooks and Information, Exercises and Information, Freebies, Over counter style products, Patches, Pills, Supplements and Diets, Supplements and Recipes, Tools and Accessories, Healthy Solutions and Local Businesses.

5. What will be expected of you?
   Again this is a matter of looking at the top ranking sites for each key-phrase and looking at what kind of site you will be expected to provide to that market.
   • What kind of research work you will have to do
   • What kind of information you will have to provide
     • A directory of local businesses
     • Well researched information
     • Buy and review every product

   Do you want to work hard or easy?
   Will you have to continually work on the site?
   Can you just work for 3 months then relax a bit?

6. How can you monetize each niche
   Are there any affiliate products you can sell or will you have to rely on Adsense and sponsorship?
   • Add one of the following after your keyphrase:
     • Affiliate
     • Affiliate program
     • Affiliates
   • Search on Google for “affiliate programs directory” and then search amongst a few of those site.
   • Take a look on Clickbank.com - CJ.com - Linkshare.com

   I keep records of everything you find and also note the cookie expiry and % of commissions

7. Calculate the earning potential of each niche.
   Lastly come up with a quick and dirty formula to calculate the daily potential of the top ten niches.
   My formula assumes you will do the 3 months work to get ranked for your keywords on 3 levels - Main Page - Categories - Articles - and you will convert 2% of your visitors into a sale.
   Based on a 15 page website of one main page, three categories and three articles under each category + two pages for those really useful resources like charts and tools.

   A = Estimated traffic of your broadest targeted keyword/phrase (main page)
   B = ¼ of A (represent your keyword targeted categories)
   C = ¼ of B (represents your keyword targeted articles )
   D = Average commission on an affiliate sale

   Potential = ( ( A + ( B x 3 ) + ( C x 9 ) ) x 2% ) x D )

   Example:

   • A = 300
   • D =$20
   • Potential = ( ( 300 + ( 75 x 3 ) + ( 18.75 x 9 ) ) x 2% ) x $20 )
   • Potential = ( ( 300 + 225 + 168.75 ) x 2% ) x $20 )
   • Potential = ( 693.75 x 2% ) x $20 )
   • Potential = ~14 x $20
   • Potential = $280 per day

So to sum up:

1. SIZE = Pick a small niche sized market.
2. TRAFFIC = Pick a key-phrase that people are searching for.
3. MONEY = Is there any money in the niche?
4. NEEDS = What are the readers looking for?
5. EXPECTATIONS = What will be expected of you?
6. MONETIZE = How can you monetize each niche
7. POTENTIAL = Calculate the earning potential of each niche.

I am exploring the lucrative ‘Weight Loss’ market to find a hot niche market to ‘possibly’ focus the walk-through on.

I will continue to explore other broad markets that I feel I can write about or at least ones that will maintain my interest.

For now lets try and find a niche market in the ‘Weight Loss’ market.

Without a tool like this I would have had to spend weeks swiping meta tags, categories and keywords from the top sites ranking for weight loss and every new key-phrase that I discovered …and resort to limited free keyword tools like overture.

Then …I would have to manually gather data on each key-phrase (estimated traffic, adwords bid price, number of competing websites)

So lets assume:
- You have spent two weeks compiling a list by hand.
- Or you have received your list of 1000+ keywords using my service.

My making money online success…
“How much money am I making”

How much money does a Niche ‘Affiliate Marketing’ Site make each week?

• Rather than tell you how much my main niche website makes each week I would rather you understanding how the big picture works for a new career path building Niche Affiliate Marketing Sites.

• Firstly I do about 3 full days work on the site each week.
• Every 3 day week seems to increase my weekly wage by $50.
• Each week my expenses on tools, hosting, domains and education average out to around $100
• It takes 6 weeks to start making any money.
• So by week 9 …I am $600 in debt
• At week 13 or ~3 months I have $100 in my pocket and I have a weekly turnover of $350 per week .
• This is where things start to take off. Week 14 I have $400 and a weekly turnover of $400
• By week 20 I have a profit of $3250 - $162,50 a week …hardly enough to live on over those 20 weeks but certainly a good investment of time as I am now have a turnover of $700 per week.
• So after 12 months:
  • I should have a declared profit of $42,988 for the year (after tax)
  • My weekly turnover will now be $2,300 and $2,200 after expenses
  • My income will continue to increase by $50 per week as long as I keep working
• In year #2:
  • I should have a declared profit of $161,304 (this averages out to a profit of $3102 every week) finally on a decent income
  • My weekly turnover will now be $4,900 and $4,800 after expenses)

This is why internet marketing should be considered as…

2. A long term strategy rather than a short term tactics to make a quick buck.

“How soon did the money start coming in”

How soon before I started making money?

• When I first put the niche site up Google found my site via a directory submission link. Google only indexed the first page…
  Why? When Google first finds your site it gets added to the list of sites that need to be fully indexed by the Google bots that crawl website pages that then get served up in search engine request pages. Because I was adding new content to my site each day the Google bots kept coming back. All my original 15 pages where then indexed over the next few weeks as it grew.

• I started getting a small trickle of traffic after 2 weeks.
• I went on a short holiday and came back to discover it was earning me $50 a day
• This however dropped off as I had rushed the site build and used a few short term tactics
• So closed the site for 4 weeks and spent all that time and profits putting in some solid work and foundations using several expensive Keyword Research, Market Research Tools
• Sites now back up I have worked out a simplified chart that explains how the income is coming in and building…
• Built a couple of highly themed websites, all are profiting extremely well.

Building Niche Sites with Affiliate Marketing

1. After a week of research I finally settled on somebody else’s product that was servicing a market I felt I could write about and provide quality content for. This product earns me a commission on each sale.

2. I made sure there was money in this market.
3. I found a semantic set of keywords surround this product that have good traffic and yet not too many competing websites.
4. I created a highly themed website 3 levels deep (this is crucial for search engine ranks that will bring in traffic)
   • Top Level: My main targeted keyphrase
   • Middle Level: 4 categories relevant to the parent theme the key phrases targeted on each can be found on a large percent of sites ranking for the parent theme. Each level below has less competing websites (this is the number of results that are returned on a search engine for that phrase or keyword)
   • Bottom Level: This is the long tail article level. You keep all your articles in relevant categories and articles from other categories DO NOT link to each other.
5. I submitted my sites to Website Directories and work constantly on creating backlinks to my niche site. The best links nowadays are your targeted key phrases placed in the body of articles on other sites highly relevant to your themes.
6. I create new “highly relevant” content on the site at least twice a week.
7. I try to use multiple modes of communication and I keep it all short and simple. Good quality information (text), Stories with character, Videos, Audio, Tools, Charts, PDFs and Downloads.
8. I continue to research and educate myself in my chosen niche increasing the value I have to offer
9. The site has total transparency and builds trust. I sell myself and promote my value to the readers - not the product.
10. Instead of being addicted to opportunity, buying every short term tactic ebook and looking for a magic formula to make money without working for it.
    • I now discover what work needs to be done next
    • Whats skills I will need to get the work done efficiently
    • Invest in my education for skills that will continue to useful
    • Lock in and do the work without distractions

Found out whats been working for me of late.

…and how to jump ahead to where I am now!

Firstly my illness flared up again and robbed me of some time over the last few months, but I’m back on track with my internet marketing again.

Luckily I have created a few ‘Niche Websites” that are making me money even when I am lying in a hospital bed!

Where I have come from…

I have experimented with everything from:

• Affiliate Marketing without websites (bum marketing)
  The concept here is picking the low hanging fruit (trying to rank for non-competitive keywords) by writing articles or creating pages on high PageRank sites like Squidoo, Usfreeads and Ezine Articles - selling products that will earn you a commission.

• Survey and reward point programs
  These are sites like ‘Cash Crate’ that pay you for filling out surveys, visiting websites and doing your buying through their links.
• Selling my time on Freelance sites
  Bidding for contracts to do mundane jobs that computers can not do - like submitting sites to directories, getting paid to blog or writing copy for other peoples websites.
• Building Adsense sites
  Probably the simplest type of site you can create. The success comes by finding a niche market that you can compete for rankings in and most importantly ones where the Pay-Per-Click for Google Ads are above $5 per click and ideally up around $20 per click.
  Once you have found your niche you simply drop in the Adsense code from google and they will serve up relevant ads, you then get paid when people click on them.
• Building niche sites *
  These are a better option but you will need to learn some skills to do it well.
  • You can sell your own product like an Ebook on fish breeding.
  • Or you can sell other peoples product (affiliate marketing)

  The best success comes by doing a lot of market research when looking for your niche market and combining it with Web 3.0 techniques (The Semantic Web) when constructing your site into categories and content.

• List Marketing
  You build a list of Email contacts for a certain niche or subject and provide them with 20% of the information they are seeking for free then you sell them the other %80 and promote related products from other people for a commission. I have been building a list but I give away 80% and only sell something if I have proven and tested it over a few months.
• Multi level marketing
  This is marketing using contact lists but you have a mentor above you and disciples below you.
  Its come along way from the Amway days and probably the best introduction is Magnetic Marketing by Mark Dillard.

An affiliate program is where you promote and market other peoples products and earn a commission on each impression, lead or sale.

How do you make money with an internet affiliate program?

Your turn TRAFFIC into SALES an average internet marketer can easily convert between 1 - 2% of the traffic into sales.

There are 3 ways to get traffic

1. Pay Per Click
   You buy and place ads on the search engines for 100 - 1000 keywords.
   Delete the non converting keywords from your Adwords campaign.

2. Bum Marketing
   You use high ‘Google PageRank’ sites like Squidoo, Usfreeads and Ezinearticles to post articles and sales copy for search key phrases with regular traffic but a low number of competing websites or SERPs (search engine return pages).
3. Niche Sites
   You create websites with highly themed and relative categories and article pages

You create short sales copy that prepares your readers for the sales pages they are about to click on.

Whats a good starting affiliate program?
A great source for starting affiliate programs is clickbank.com
If you are looking for other sources try Commission Junction and LinkShare.
Failing that type your targeted theme into a Google search and ad the extra phrase “Affiliate Program” in quotations.

There a 3 ways to earn your affiliate commissions:

1. Pay per click
   You earn a commission on every visitor you send.
   Every click will make money with pay per click affiliate programs.
   The downside is that the commission are much lower than Pay Per Sale commissions.

2. Pay per lead
   You earn a commission on every potential lead that signs up.
3. Pay per sale
   You get a percentage of every sale that is made via your links.
