More Efficient Ways To Create Content

If you have dug beyond the surface of this blog, you will (hopefully) have come to grasp the importance of consistently creating great content online.

Providing more value for more people!

But sitting down to a blank page each day can stall the process. According to your own perception, the pressure is firmly on you as the creator. You have to do the work… You have to write 2 blog posts a day… You have to create a new video every Sunday… You have to create a new product and write a new Ebook.

By simply changing your perception, you can become the director rather than the worker. The work has to be done, I am not talking about cheating that process. I am just trying to get you to rethink the path that leads to the result, your path, your effort and your valuable time.

For Example…

Just yesterday, a colleague of mine set upon a task with a very clear result. To write a book! Big task right? It’s going to require long days in front of a computer typing up words and thoughts into structured chapters. That’s a lot of work and the risk of not actually finishing the project is quite high!

So lets rethink the problem and instead of focusing on the work, lets instead focus on the result.

I’ll save you from the 20 minute brainstorming session we had over a drink!

But we did end up choosing a better, faster and more efficient solution from a number of great ideas. The new solution is now a 10 step sequence of events that will be completed over the next week or so. Not months, 10 days to be exact!

  1. Today (Thursday) we decided on 14 chapters.
  2. We came up with a working title or theme for each chapter.
  3. We spent most of the time crafting the exact question that needs to be answered in each chapter.
  4. We bought a digital recorder for $90.
  5. This weekend I spend 3 days and 2 nights at my colleagues property. Over the space of this weekend I will pose the questions and record the answers in mp3 format.
  6. Monday the mp3’s will be reviewed and sent to a pre-arranged freelancer.
  7. Tuesday and Wednesday the audio will be transcribed into text.
  8. Thursday through Saturday the text will be professionally edited.
  9. Sunday the draft will be proofed by the author.
  10. Monday the book will be corrected and published.

…and that’s just one of many ways to rethink book creation, with the main focus on achieving the result rather than getting immediately bogged down in the task.

Best of all, it’s going to be a fun weekend even though the 14 interviews are already scheduled out over the initial 3 days and does  feel a bit like I am about to attend a conference.

RECAP: The work is crucial, but don’t jump straight into the work without exploring other ways to achieve the result!

There are many headhunters listed in the phonebook and online, whose focus is in the technical career field. They will have many contacts and know of open positions at all levels. In most cases, they won't charge you, rather they charge their fee to the company who ends up hiring you.
