Mondayitis Motivation: Schedule Content with a Plan
In the ‘interweblogosphere’ she (or he) who succeeds is the one who dies with the most content and the most subscribers. It can take some time to reach a point of success. I recommend a careful plan and preparing and scheduling your content well in advance.
Mondayitis Motivation Tip #4
Last Monday I got on my high horse about values and preserving your pride, the quality of your work and your activities in internet marketing. This week It’s the ‘Return of the King’… Content! The phrase “Content is King” gets so overused, we can easily switch off when we hear it. When I first heard that phrase I actually ignored it completely, opting instead for fast tricks and shortcuts to make money online. But it just keeps coming back to teach a new lesson and deepen my understanding of what that phrase means.
Content is a fat word in the 21st century, in just 100 years we have gone from the explosion of the printing press to the implosion of digital online content.
With the game of media control over content changing, I am questioning whether you or your business are committed to the ongoing creation of high quality content as a road to online success. And more importantly… How to stay motivated!
While embracing as many digital content modalities as you can, will certainly make you famous in your niche (online). Most of us will not easily make the transition from bum marketing to; building websites, writing articles, blogging, micro-blogging, hosting a radio show, doing audio interviews, podcasting, creating great images and slides, creating videos, video blogging, writing ebooks, writing great sales copy, sending captivating emails, and interacting with the content of others.
With so many options and opportunities in each of the above ‘content modalities’, you can see how easily it is to get overwhelmed or start investing your time in the wrong places to soon.
I am going to use a word that will scare most people, but stick with me…
A Business Plan! It does not have to be too complicated, but every sensible internet marketer should have a simple plan in place, based on a few basic questions.
- What niche you want to dominate?
- How are you going to find your target audience?
- What your going to sell them?
- What will drive that audience to want your product?
- What they actually want?
- What’s the common passion shared by:
- You?
- Your Target Audience?
- Your Product?
- How you are going to get your message out?
- Which content formats will your use?
- Which online platforms will you use?
- What schedule are you going to commit to?
My advice is a message of patience and commitment. Start simple but stay devoted to a schedule you can manage and build on. Most people make the mistake of pumping out content every day for a week and then nothing for two months. Take that same content scheduled over a regular once a week publication/broadcast and you will reach and maintain a bigger audience.
Above all, avoid the distractions of starting a new project.
