adding blogger meta tags html pic01This is a Hack for Blogger aka Blogspot Blogs.
In this tutorial I will guide you through the process of adding meta tags to the blogger htnl template.

Blogger Meta Tags

Here is how to set up Blogger Meta Tags
Note:
Your Blogger will need to be in classic mode for this to work.

You will want to do this to increase the Search Engine Optimization of your Blogger, by default there are no Blogger Meta Tags include.

  • First we need to access the HTML and find your Blogger Title Tag
    Click… CUSTOMIZE / TEMPLATE / Edit HTML

  • Locate the following code, near the top.

    Code:

    <title><data:blog.pagetitle/></title>

  • The Blogger Meta Tags format should look like this:
    Code:
    <meta content='My blog description goes here' name='description'/><meta content='my blog,keywords,go here' name='keywords'/>

Add these to Meta Tag lines directly under your blogger’s title tag.

  • The final result should look like this:
    Code:
    <title><data:blog.pagetitle/></title><meta content='My blog description goes here' name='description'/><meta content='my blog,keywords,go here' name='keywords'/>

Save and check it with this free Web Page Analyser tool.

Not just adding the meta tag in the head section would solve your problems but you will need to seperate the home page meta tag and the post page meta tag. Or else these meta tags would mess all your search engine descriptions up ...

Here is a solution i have made for all of bloggers .. till now most of you don't know this ..

Try and i bet this will totally change your search engine rankings.

  • I am using a meta tag creator to add tags to my Blogger and I am getting an error when I try to save it. "Blogger doesn't allow <title> is what I am getting. Where do I add these meta tags? I am adding them to the page template page. Is there an area i need to paste this code between?</title>

  • You can put meta tags into blogger manually, make sure they go in between «Head» and «/Head»

  • Thanks for the tips. May we'll try for our next blog.

    Thnx simple tip..

Nice one - certainly helps! However it would also be a good idea to switch the order in which the "title" tag diplays blog pages "blogpost title", "blogname" as all pages start with "blogname" by default. I found a workaround for custom blogs, but haven't found one for standard templates.

    You are welcome Thiago,

Google does not really pay too much attention to Keyword Meta tags (other search engines still do). Description tags should show up in a Google SERP as soon as the bot visits your page and Google updates the index.

Thanks for the tip! How long does it usually take for this effort to take place in Google search results?

Here are a few extra tips for you Dreamdriven....

In regards to SEO for a chosen keyword.

#1 - Make sure all your Meta Keywords are included in the body of your page!

#2 - Make sure your Meta Description is under 150 characters

Ohhh and in-case you mess with the Title tag... Its a good idea to keep it the same as the H1 Header on your page!

Just some stuff that Google likes!

Don't forget to fill in the tag info and not leave it in the copied over format :)

Thank you for making this so easy to do! I am so excited! I tried other suggestions for at least an hour, and I found your post and it took me 1 minute.
